Railway bridge to chain bridge.
Canoe traffic makes this a stretch for early morning or evening fishing. Good fishing for trout and grayling with fly or worm from the railway bridge up to the Chain Bridge Hotel. The salmon pools are slow and deep waters are Ty Craig down to the sea-trout pool fish well with spinner or bait. The sea trout pool itself fishes well on higher water with fly or spinner. Access is gained on A5 side by walking downstream form the road under the railway line and along the path before the Chain bridge.
Access from the Ruthin road side is from the canal bank. Park in the Llantysilio Green car park (pay and display). Unless staying at the hotel do not park in the Chain bridge car park.
This is the start of the Chain Bridge runs and is mentioned in George Borows ‘Wild Wales.’ It is named after a thief who escaping from justice jumped the river at this spot to avoid his captors. The runs are good on low water for fly, spinner or bait. Access from the Llantysilio Green (pay and display) .Kings Bridge to Horseshoe Falls
On the A5 side there is a deep slow pool above the bridge which is hardly ever fished. This is good with spinner or bait. The Liverpool water is best fished from the canal side and is good for all species.Bishops Run
Fish with spinner or fly for salmon. Also, a good run for trout or grayling with fly. Access from car park A off the A5.Please note bye law that prohibits fishing above the pumping station in the field behind you.
Horseshoe Falls to Duncan's Pool
Excellent trout and grayling fishing from both banks. Fly only above the Horseshoe Falls for trout and grayling. Please note no fishing for 50 meters above the Falls on the A5 bank. No fishing on the Ruthin road bank from the canal inlet to 50 meters above the Falls.
Duncan’s pool is all methods for salmon from the Rhysgog bank but fly only from the Llantysilio bank. Spin or bait fishing is allowed for Salmon below Duncan’s pool to the Horseshoe Falls which fishes well on high water. Access from Car park A or C on the A5 side. Or at Llantysilio Church on the Ruthin Road bank. If the church parking is full please park at the country park car park above the Chain Bridge Hotel. This is a pay and display car park.
